Chipotle Chips: What Makes Them Different
Chipotle chips are made from corn tortillas, cut and fried in-store several times a day in sunflower or rice bran oil, then tossed with kosher salt and fresh lime juice. Fans love them for being slightly irregular: some extra-salty, some extra-limey. A regular bag (about 4 oz) has 540 calories, 25g fat, 73g carbs and 390mg sodium, so it’s best shared.
Hack: if your chips taste stale, politely ask for a fresh batch. Crews usually swap them right away. You can also ask for “no salt” or “extra lime.”
New: Chipotle Chili Lime Chips
Launched to Rewards members on August 31, 2026 and to everyone on September 4, 2026, Chili Lime Chips are Chipotle’s regular chips tossed in a chili-lime seasoning. Chipotle says they’re made with real ingredients and no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. They were inspired by years of fans adding hot sauce and lime to their own chips. Pair them with queso blanco or the cool fresh tomato salsa.
Chipotle Guacamole
Chipotle’s guac is made fresh in every restaurant from Hass avocados, lime juice, cilantro, red onion, jalapeño and kosher salt. Nothing else goes in. A 4-oz serving has 230 calories, 22g of healthy fats and 6g of fiber.

Chipotle Queso Blanco

Chipotle’s guac is famous for being simple and made fresh, often several times a day in each restaurant:
- Hass avocados are halved, pitted and scooped into a large bowl.
- Fresh lime juice is added and the avocados are mashed with a masher, leaving some chunks.
- Kosher salt is mixed in.
- Diced red onion, chopped jalapeño (with some seeds) and fresh cilantro are folded in.
- The guac is portioned into pans, covered with plastic wrap pressed on the surface, and served the same day.
